• Investigates allegations made against nurses and midwives who may not have followed the Code.
• Ensures that midwives are safe to practice by setting rules for their practice and supervision.

If you are a registered nurse who acquired a nursing degree outside of the European Economic Area and wish to practice nursing in UK, you must successfully complete the ONP or the Overseas Nursing Program. The ONP is the standard training set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council in UK for those who want to practice nursing in UK but earned a degree in nursing or trained outside the EU. The program consists of compulsory 20 day protected learning and supervised practice. This includes health and safety issues, UK law, drugs administration, record keeping, and the NMC code of conduct.
